Curtin 137 St Georges Terrace
Curtin 137 St Georges Terrace provides new learning opportunities for business professionals and postgraduate students in the heart of Perth’s CBD.
Our distinctive venue
Curtin 137 St Georges Terrace is housed in the Old Perth Technical College (also known as Perth Technical School).
The new facility offers masterclasses, seminars, bespoke training programs and postgraduate courses, further enhancing Curtin’s engagement with city-based businesses, industry and government.
The distinctive venue is an important addition to Curtin’s growing presence in the city, complementing Curtin 139 St Georges Terrace, as well as the Curtin Graduate School of Business and the Curtin School of Law, which are both located in Murray Street. Each of these buildings boast flexible, modern facilities in charming heritage architecture.
It’s also available as a venue for Curtin staff to host meetings and events that promote engagement and showcase the University to external audiences. This includes prospective students, alumni, business and industry partners, and the general public. Contact the venue for more information.
About the building
Perth Technical College (also known as Perth Technical School) is a two-storey brick and tile building, with a castellated square tower. It was designed by WA Government architect Hillson Beasley, and constructed adjacent to the Old Perth Boy’s School in 1909-1910 to cope with the increased demand for technical training in the post-war period.
It was designed in the Federation Gothic style, with some Arts and Crafts, Tudor and Art Nouveau influences. It remains one of the few surviving examples of the style in Perth.
The site at 137 St Georges Terrace is significant for its association with the Aboriginal Whadjuk Noongar peoples who gathered in this area. It was also the site of Perth settlers’ first water mill, constructed in 1832.
This noteworthy building has now been returned to its former educational purpose and brings people together for knowledge sharing, industry engagement and innovative thought.
