The historic mining town of Kalgoorlie is located in the Goldfields region of Western Australia, approximately 600 kilometres east of Perth. The town was established in 1893 when gold was first discovered there, and today it remains an important centre for the state’s mining industry.
Curtin Kalgoorlie is located next to the Central Business District, with student housing a short walk away, providing a strong community atmosphere.
The campus specialises in mining and metallurgy, but also offers courses in health, education and commerce. Flexible study options are available for some of these courses, offering students online and on-campus learning.
As a Curtin Kalgoorlie student, you can access a range of groups and activities, including the WASM Wombats, a mining games team, the WASM Student Guild and WASM Social Club.
The WASM Student Guild supports and represents your needs throughout the year, and also provides a range of student services, clubs and events.
The WASM Social Club is a members-only group that hosts industry and social events for students, and operates the bar located on campus. Joining the club is a great way to make friends and build your networks.
Also located on the campus is the Western Australian School of Mines Minerals Museum, which opened in 1907. It offers a fascinating insight into Kalgoorlie’s mining history, and houses more than 3,000 mineral specimens. The museum is open to the public Monday – Friday 9:00am – 4:30pm.
