Curtin University is excited to announce the Global Futures High School Challenge, a transformative 3-day event designed for Year 7-10 students. This event aims to foster intercultural understanding and enhance students’ critical and creative thinking by immersing them in a vibrant exploration of global cultures, with a special focus on the Korean Wave (Hallyu) phenomenon.
The challenge will take place on the Curtin Bentley Campus from Monday, 18th November to Wednesday, 20th November 2024. Throughout the program, students will participate in various interactive activities, including:
Exploration of Global Cultures: Using the Korean Wave as a lens, students will delve into globalisation and its cultural impact, engaging with Korean language, media, and creative projects. This hands-on approach aims to build students’ understanding of cultural diversity and global citizenship.
Academic Insights and Mentorship: Led by Curtin University academics, students will gain insights into the globalisation of popular culture, the influence of the Korean Wave, and its cultural and economic significance. Mentors will guide students through designing their own Korean Wave-themed merchandise and creating multimedia cultural projects.
Immersive Campus Experience: Students will experience life on a university campus, working closely with university staff and peers, providing a taste of academic environments and stimulating their interest in higher education.
By the end of the challenge, participants will have developed new skills in critical thinking, creativity, and intercultural understanding. They will also gain a deeper appreciation for Asian cultures and explore future opportunities for engagement with global trends. This event offers a unique platform for young leaders to begin their journey toward becoming globally aware changemakers.
