On Tuesday 22nd April, Associate Professor Alexey Muraviev, a leading authority in national security and strategic studies at Curtin University, delivered a powerful and timely lecture to members of Naturaliste University of the Third Age (U3A) at The People Place in Busselton.
Titled “National Security in a Time of Testiness, Tantrums and Political Game-Playing”, the lecture explored the complexities of global power dynamics, rising tensions, and the implications of erratic political behaviours on international and national security. A large and engaged audience gathered to hear Professor Muraviev’s sharp insights, including the Mayor of Busselton, several City Councillors, and attendees from the broader South West region, including Margaret River.

An expert of international standing and a prolific media commentator, Associate Professor Muraviev’s research spans maritime security, Russia’s defence strategy, terrorism, and alliances in the Asia-Pacific.
