Teaching

Our sustainability offerings examine policies and practices and address the complexities of the new global sustainable development goals that aim to support people, planet, prosperity and peace.

Our sustainability program has a strong emphasis on professional practice. You will apply your skills and knowledge to real-life issues through professional work and community engagement and individual projects provide opportunities for research into real-world issues.

Research

Drawing on expertise in design, construction, management, geography and planning and health, we explore and solve issues of sustainability as it applies to corporate responsibility, the natural and built environment, transport, energy usage and more through collaborative research projects.

Planning a world-class sustainable campus

We want all of our campuses to be vibrant and welcoming places for the broader community to engage with us across a range of academic, entrepreneurial and commercial activities. The Greater Curtin Master Plan shows us the way forward, with world-class sustainable development at the heart.

In 2015, the Greater Curtin Master Plan received Australia’s first 5 Star Green Star – Communities rating from the Green Building Council of Australia, giving us independent validation that our vision will deliver environmental, economic and social sustainability. In 2020, Curtin was awarded an upgraded 6 Star Green Star re-certification for its Master Plan.
