The Rising Scholar Program (RSP) offers high-ability students a tertiary learning experience at Curtin University while still in high school, allowing them to earn university credit. Gifted students will engage with staff and students through one of the available delivery modes of the university (on-campus, blended learning or online). The program will consider outstanding Year 10, 11 or 12 students for admission into one unit per semester.
Who is eligible to participate?
To be eligible to participate in the RSP, students must:
- be a high-achiever in year 10, 11 or 12
- attend an approved RSP partner school – please email us to see if your school is an approved partner
- demonstrate a strong A grade average on their most recent school report
- submit a written submission statement with their application detailing why they wish to study at Curtin and be involved in the program
- be nominated by their respective school and provide a signed declaration form and a copy of their most recent school report as part of the e-Application process.
Applications will be accepted via e-Application. Link and forms to be communicated with school representatives before applications open.
Students can engage with a maximum of four units during this time, with no more than one unit to be taken per study period.

Benefits of participation
Students participating in the RSP will:
- be immersed in a genuine Curtin learning experience where they will engage with university-level content, study with world-class academics and interact with the Curtin community
- have access to a range of facilities on campus, including computer labs, Curtin retail outlets, specialised learning areas and a range of lecture/collaborative venues
- be given a student ID card that identifies them as a Curtin University student, granting them access to a range of areas on campus and Guild discounts at a range of retail outlets and food providers
- receive a Curtin certificate of completion, pending a pass grade, which may also contribute to CRL (Credit of Recognised Learning) if they engage in an undergraduate degree at Curtin after school.

Unit offerings change each semester. Confirmed offerings from Business & Law, Humanities, Health Sciences and Science & Engineering will be communicated with partner schools before applications open each Semester. Please speak with your RSP school representative or your nominating teacher to request a copy of this list.
Key dates 2026
- applications open for semester 2, 2026 on Monday 30 March 2026 for new and returning students
- applications close for semester 1, 2026 on Friday 24 April 2026 – late applications will not be accepted
- the orientation event will be held from 4:30pm to 6:30pm, Tuesday 30 June 2026
- the on-campus day will be held on Monday 16 March 2026.
