Team member – Led by Experience Mental Health Research Group
Have you used digital mental health apps for your own wellbeing or mental health? Do you have a particular interest in helping to improve them?
Warren Mansell is the leader of the Led by Experience Mental Health Research Group at Curtin’s enAble Institute. He works with a team of academics and stakeholders to develop MYLO, an evidence-based chatbot that asks questions to help people to unpack and explore problems in a way that supports their wellbeing.
The position
The team are looking for a member who has lived experience of using digital support for their own mental health and wellbeing. The role involves:
- Attending team meetings on the research and development of MYLO
- Contributing suggestions for developments to MYLO
- Facilitating consumer and organisational engagement with MYLO via social media and networking
- Facilitating groups to test various potential improvements to MYLO and providing feedback and suggestions
- Contributing to academic articles and accessible reports
There is also the opportunity to contribute more directly to research, if this fits with the applicant’s experience and ambitions.
Skills and experience
You need to have a lived experience of using digital support for your own mental health or wellbeing. You also need to have an interest in improving digital mental health apps. Other skills that may be beneficial but aren’t necessarily required include:
- Ability to use social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite (i.e. Word)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Other information
This role requires 2-4 hours commitment per week. There is flexibility when these hours are completed. However there is a set bi-monthly team meeting that you would need to attend. The team is based in Perth, however as most of the work is done online, location of the team member can be flexible.
The role will initially be offered for a period of 12 months.
Remuneration for this role is dependant on skills and experience, however it will be based on the honorarium rate of $37.50/hour.
