The Careers Fair will open for our Quiet 30 initiative from 10:30am to 11:00am. This time provides a welcoming, low-sensory experience for our neurodiverse student community.
With the full support of our exhibitors, there will be reduced sensory stimulation during this time, with elements such as bright lights, multimedia and other noise kept to a minimum.
Here are a few tips to help you make the most of the day:
- Research the exhibitors and list the top five you’re interested in speaking with.
- Prepare a ‘pitch’ or a short personal introduction that you can use when you introduce yourself to an employer.
- Explain why you’re interested in their organisation.
- End your pitch with a question so that the conversation flows. For example:
- How should I follow-up with you?
- How can I submit my resume for an internship/graduate opportunity?
- Get there early so that you have some time to explore the space and familiarise yourself with the exhibitors.
Additionally, the Neurodiversity Hub Careers Fair Guide is a great tool which provides more information on preparing for an employer event.
The Curtin Careers Fair opens for general admission at 11am.
