The Resilience Lab offers flexible, 60-minute workshops where you can develop practical skills, manage stress and build resilience in a supportive, small-group setting facilitated by Curtin’s Psychology and Counselling Services (PACS).
Topics are chosen on the day and based on group needs. Topics will include:
- Understanding the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions,
- Exploring personal values and what motivates you,
- Learning how to calm the nervous system,
- Managing emotions and handling tough situations,
- Setting boundaries and communicating with confidence,
- Shifting perspectives to turn stress into growth.
What to expect
Session structure
Welcome & check-in: Brief introduction and scan your student ID,
Settling exercise: Begin with a grounding or mindfulness practice,
Focus topic: Focus on one of six core topics,
Goal setting: Set personal intentions for the coming week.
Group guidelines
Confidentiality: What’s shared in the group stays in the group,
Respect: Listen actively and avoid interrupting others,
Self-care: Be mindful of your own emotional limits and take breaks when needed,
Participation: While active participation is encouraged, sharing is always voluntary. Engage at a level that feels comfortable for you.
How to get the most out of the group
• Arrive 5 minutes before the session for check-in and wait in the reception area. The group leader will come to get you,
• Participate actively in discussions and exercises,
• Maintain a non-judgmental attitude toward yourself and others,
• Apply what you learn to situations outside the group
What to bring
• Student ID
• Notebook and pen
You can attend one session, or as many as you like.
There is no need to sign up, just head to reception at Building 109, Level 2, 10-15 minutes before the group starts. Places are limited!
