I worked for two years as the Marketing Executive at St Andrew’s First Aid in Glasgow. This involved coordinating 350 volunteers across Scotland to provide first aid at community events and taught basic first aid to children and adults.
As part of our advocacy campaign to introduce first aid into the school curriculum, two girls from our children’s cadets program attended Scottish Parliament and showed Members of Parliament how to use a defibrillator to restart a heart.

Currently, my work focuses on amplifying the voice of WA’s volunteering sector. Sometimes people think volunteering is just a ‘nice thing to do’, but in reality people who volunteer are actually keeping this country moving and connected.
There are reportedly 1.5 million people in WA who volunteer – but in reality, there are so many more. First Nations Peoples or different cultural groups may not use the word ‘volunteer’ – they’re simply using their time to help their family and the community – these are the stories I hope to help continue to share.

Whether you want to make new friends, spend time with family, be physically active, learn a skill, boost your confidence, be creative, build your resume, or champion a cause that matters to you – there’s a volunteering experience waiting for you.
