Jump Start Nursing – a career in the making
Registered nurses are key to a safe healthcare system. In this time of workforce shortage, attracting students to study nursing is essential so that we can continue to offer person centred quality care to individuals, families and communities.
Jump Start Nursing will assist first-year nursing students with $500 which will allow them to purchase critical items needed for their clinical placements. Uniforms, mask fitting, police clearance and CPR training all add up, and many students struggle to find the money to cover these costs. This can make or break the initial experience as a future nurse.
Jump Start Nursing is generously supported by the Anne Winkler Memorial Fund, Carbury Scholarship Fund, alumni, staff and community members. We aim to continue to build this fund and increase the number of students receiving Jump Start Nursing payments for generations to come.
You have the opportunity to be a part of this initiative by donating to Jump Start Nursing. Let’s extend a helping hand and ensure all students can excel in their nursing career without delay.

My lifelong dream to become a nurse came true
I’m Lilly Whelan, an undergraduate studying Bachelor of Science Nursing. I sincerely thank you for your support in helping me achieve my goal of becoming a registered nurse. This scholarship enables me to afford educational resources that would otherwise be challenging to obtain.
Raised by hardworking parents who instilled the value of passion and dedication, my journey took a significant turn when my Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer in early 2023. Witnessing the impact of this disease on my family propelled me to pursue nursing to better understand and help my community.
Accompanying my Mum on hospital visits, I deeply admired the kindness and expertise of nurses, inspiring me to make a difference in others’ lives.
Thank you so much for helping me pursue my dream, it really does mean the world to me.
Lilly Whelan
