Training
Health and Safety have a range of online health and safety training courses.
- Staff can access the course catalogue in iPerform located on the Staff Portal application wheel.
- Students can self-enrol in our training courses in Blackboard by clicking on Organisations and searching for Health and Safety Training.
Areas are responsible for arranging training as required for their workers. It is the Line Manager’s responsibility to coordinate training provided by an external source and ensure that records are uploaded into iPerform.
CHARM training
Managers/Supervisors are required to conduct online incident investigations and action plans in CHARM.
For assistance using CHARM, please view the online training videos or contact healthandsafety@curtin.edu.au to arrange a time to meet with a Health and Safety advisor.
Biological Safety
For all staff and students who work with biological materials.
Develop an understanding of the safe working practices relating to manipulation and disposal of biological material in the laboratory.
Duration: 30 minute online module
General Laboratory Safety
For all staff or students who work in laboratories and workshops use or have responsibilities for hazardous materials to complete this module.
Develop an understanding of safe working practices in laboratories and workshops when working with specific types of hazardous materials.
Duration: 40 minute online module
Chemical and Gas Safety
All staff or students who use or have responsibilities for hazardous materials to complete this module.
Develop an understanding of safe working practices when handling Chemicals and Gases.
Please complete the General Laboratory Safety course before starting this training.
Duration: 20 minute online module
Plant and Equipment Safety
For all staff and university associates who work with plant and equipment.
Develop an understanding of the correct methods for the purchase, safe use, storage and disposal of Plant and Equipment.
Duration: 30 minute online module
Health and Safety for Managers and Supervisors Training
This course supports managers and supervisors to understand their health and safety responsibilities under Work Health and Safety legislation.
Duration: 20 minute online module
ChemAlert
ChemAlert Basic Training: The ChemAlert search modules are training tools for new users of ChemAlert or those who are looking for a refresher into performing searches and understanding Safety Data Sheets.
ChemAlert Search & Stock: This training is for users responsible for managing and updating their chemical register.
