Postcards from Prison
Opening Event: 16 May 2024
Exhibition Continues: 17 May – 8 July 2024
Supported By: Justice and Equity Through Art (JETA) program
Postcards from Prison sees current and former prisoners sharing their unique perspectives, emotions and talents through a diverse array of artworks, offering a glimpse into the complexities of life behind bars and the transformative power of art.
Through programs such as JETA, art-making has shown to have a significant role in the rehabilitation and reintegration of incarcerated people into wider communities, preventing alienation and recidivism. To learn artistic skills and thinking promotes self-critical thinking and imagination, an access to a refreshed sense of self and identity.
