Hear from IOTA24 Codes in Parallel artists;

Pangrok Sulap (Malaysia): Pangrok Sulap is an art collective established in 2010 in Ranau, Sabah. The multidisciplinary collective is made up of artists, curators, writers, researchers, activists, musicians, graphic designers, entrepreneur crafts makers and more. This diversity enriches the collective and in turn makes its activities and programs more dynamic. Along with the collective’s mission to strengthen the community through art, it has organised art exhibitions, projects and collaborated with multiple communities for social, cultural, economic and educational development. Since 2013, Pangrok Sulap has participated in several art exhibitions locally and globally. In addition, they have been actively involved with many community projects, forums, workshops and art studies. Work by the collective is included in the collections of museums and galleries such as Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, Singapore Art Museum and Queensland Art Gallery.

Fatemeh Boroujeni (Australia/Iran): Fatemeh Boroujeni’s path in the world of design and fine arts is a testament to her dedication and passion. Drawing from her rich cultural experiences, she infuses a unique blend of perspectives into each of her creations. Her academic journey, marked by studies in Iran and Australia, culminated in a Bachelor of Industrial Design and Fine Arts, a Master of Applied Design and Art, and an Advanced Diploma of Jewellery Design. Her tenure on the Executive Committee of the Jewellery and Metalsmiths Group of Australia (JMGA) and the variety of her woodcarving and metalworking skills reflects her deep engagement with the community of craftspeople.

Boroujeni’s work, which has been exhibited in galleries from Sydney to Perth and has been recognised in Paris, speaks to a harmonious balance between heritage and innovation. She has been a finalist in prestigious competitions such as the Contemporary Wearables Biennial Jewellery Award and Exhibition (2019), Toowoomba, and with a career spanning over 20 years, her exhibitions, notably Future Inheritance (2021) at the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, have been celebrated for their contribution to the dialogue on global cultural exchange.

Emma Buswell (Australia): Emma Buswell is an artist, curator and writer fascinated with systems of government, economies and culture, particularly in relation to constructs of place, identity and community. Her current work takes its inspiration from the matrilineal hand craft and knitting techniques passed down from her grandmother and mother, as well as a contemplative investigation into the nature of kitsch, ephemera and national identities. Recent exhibitions include Emma Buswell: Selected Knitted Works, curated by Robert Cook, Art Gallery of Western Australia (2020) and Fair Isle, curated by Katherine Wilkinson, for DADAA as part of the Perth Festival (2021). Buswell was the 2022 TILT artist at Goolugatup Heathcote, Melville, awarded the 2022 Joondalup Invitational Art Prize, and Highly Commended in the Churchie Art Prize (2022) at the IMA, Brisbane. She was a finalist in the Ramsay Art Prize (2023) and featured as part of the 2023 Australian Fashion Week in a showcase of Australian designers as part of the We Wear Australian x Afterpay runway, showing at Carriageworks, Sydney.

Her work is held in the collections of the City of Joondalup, the City of Melville, the Art Gallery of Western Australia, the University of Western Australia, Artbank and several private collections.
