Teaching staff can now create or roll over Library Reading Lists for 2023.
How do the Library’s Reading List service support teaching staff and Curtin students?
Copyright compliance
Copyright compliance is a shared responsibility across the University. The University Copyright Procedures require staff to provide access to unit readings through the Library’s Reading Lists service. Reading Lists will ensure your readings comply with the Statutory Licence and Library database agreements. Staff must not upload non-Curtin content directly to Blackboard.
Easy ordering of learning resources
The Library aims to provide access to the learning resources students are directed to in their studies. Still, we rely on individual teaching staff to notify us of what is required. Orders can be placed directly into the Reading List system, and “student-use citations” are created at the same time.
Prescribed textbooks
The cost of textbooks continues to be an issue for students. The Library is working toward ensuring that prescribed textbooks and essential resources are electronically available to students. To assist the Library in this task, ensure all citations are correctly tagged in the Library system.
Before adopting a textbook, please ensure the Library can purchase the textbooks in electronic format that meets the unit’s needs.
Learning resources for global courses
All Curtin students can access the Library’s electronic resources, including e-books, anywhere in the world. By associating Library Reading Lists with courses taught on international campuses’, students will more easily find electronic resources provided by the Library.
