Grammarly and Studiosity
Are you feeling overwhelmed or unsure about an assignment? Get writing feedback through Grammarly or chat with an online tutor through Studiosity.
What is Grammarly?
The Curtin-provided version of Grammarly is an artificial intelligence (AI) tool that will provide suggestions relating to spelling, grammar, and punctuation to make your writing more understandable and help you make the right impression based on your audience and goals. The Curtin-provided version is the ONLY version of Grammarly permitted for use at Curtin.
All Curtin students can access Grammarly via the link on the institution page – it’s listed under Library & Study Support:
Why do I need to use the Curtin-provided version of Grammarly?
All versions of Grammarly (free, premium and business) contain generative artificial intelligence (Gen-AI) functionality. Similar to ChatGPT, Gen-AI within Grammarly can produce drafts, make revisions, suggest topics and provide information in response to prompts. As with other forms of Gen-AI, you are not permitted to use it in assignments unless specific permission is given.
Gen-AI functionality is not activated within the Curtin-provided version of Grammarly.
What is Studiosity?
Studiosity is an online writing and study skills feedback service. Students enrolled in first-year undergraduate units and UniReady can access Studiosity for 24/7 study help, with two services on offer:
- Writing Feedback gives you constructive, confidential writing feedback. Simply upload an assignment draft, and you’ll receive comments, suggestions and encouragement from a Studiosity tutor within 24 hours.
- Connect Live offers one-to-one, personalised help in real-time. Friendly tutors can help you with your tricky study questions on maths, science, statistics, English, assignments and more.
You can access Studiosity through Blackboard within eligible units. Look for the Studiosity link in the unit menu.
