On Monday, 19 February 2024, the Library was excited to welcome back students to the T.L Robertson Library for the start of semester one’s orientation week (‘O-Week’).

To showcase the exciting features of the Library and allow students to familiarise themselves with our spaces and services, guided tours were offered throughout O-Week. For those that couldn’t wait, pre O-Week tours were also made available on Thursday, 15 February 2024. In addition to the general tours, the Library’s Indigenous Learning Advisor Eytahnyia Scott, offered personalised Library tours for Curtin Aboriginal Studies students and Indigenous Curtin Medical School students. Equity students were also offered the opportunity for an individual tour with a Library staff member.

Throughout the week, Library staff were on hand to facilitate discovery and answer questions. Visitors also had the opportunity to explore independently (or in a group) by playing the Library’s augmented reality game, ROGUE, or by wandering through the space.

For new students commencing their Curtin University journey in 2024, the Library offered a range of orientation sessions and workshops, designed to ensure students started their studies on the right foot. Whether on-campus or online, students were able to attend events and learn more about finding information, referencing and academic writing, time management, maths, critical thinking and commonly used programs (and so much more!) before diving into the semester.

The Library is one of the most visited places on campus and orientation week was not an exception – we received a total of 139,772 Library visitors over the week; a 32% increase from the previous year!

The next time you’re on campus, come by and say hi – we can’t wait to see you!
