This afternoon the Premier announced that WA Health is investigating a weak positive case of COVID-19 involving a man in his 30s, a FIFO worker in the Pilbara region.
The man had COVID-19 in March 2020 when he returned from overseas travel. He is asymptomatic, and currently in self-quarantine.
Two of his close contacts have already returned negative results. Other close contacts are being tested and are in quarantine.
It is possible he contracted the virus at Perth Airport on Tuesday, 20 July, between 4am and 7am. That is the same time as a positive case from Queensland flew into Perth but was denied entry to WA, and subsequently tested positive when he returned to Queensland.
WA Health are working on a list of potential exposure sites, and these will be added to the website as the information is finalised. They are available on the Healthy WA website.
Everyone who was at Perth Airport Terminal 4 (the Qantas Domestic Terminal) on 20 July between 4am and 7am, or on 27 July between 4:30pm and 6pm, must also now get tested immediately and self-quarantine until they get a negative result.
All students are also asked to:
- Check the exposure sites on the Department of Health’s website. The site will be updated regularly.
- Stay home if unwell.
- If they have or develop COVID-19 symptoms, isolate and phone 13 COVID (13 26843).
