Followed at 10.45 am by the John Curtin Medals 2008 Award Ceremony in the BankWest Theatre at Curtin University of Technology – Bentley Campus

Two inspiring community leaders will be honoured for their contribution to society at Curtin University of Technology’s John Curtin Medals Award Ceremony 2008 on Tuesday 7 October at the Bentley Campus.

One has worked to improve health in Indigenous communities and the other has worked tirelessly with disabled, elderly and at risk people.

The media are invited to a special media call from 9.40am to 10.00am to meet the 2008 John Curtin Medal recipients in the John Curtin Prime Ministerial Library Foyer.

This is an opportunity for interested media to be able to interview or photograph the Medal recipients before the official John Curtin Medals Award Ceremony at 10.45am in the BankWest Theatre, Building 200.

The 11th annual ceremony marks the anniversary of Prime Minister John Curtin’s accession into the office of Prime Minister on October 7, 1941.

The John Curtin Medal is the highest non-academic award offered by the University and is given to outstanding citizens who have exhibited John Curtin’s qualities of vision, leadership and community service.

Previous recipients have included spiritual leader Ajahn Brahmavamso, Doug Paling, John Fawcett, Brother Olly Picket, Dr Eric Tan AM and the late Dame Rachel Cleland.

Attention Editor/COS: Media parking will be available in front of the John Curtin Prime Ministerial Library (Building 200) – enter at the main Kent Street entrance and continue along Beazley Avenue.
