Two distinguished scholars from the Fenner School of Environment and Society at the Australian National University, Professors Will Steffen, its Director, and Steve Dovers, its Research Convenor, will be at Curtin University of Technology to speak on the challenges that Australia faces from climate change.
Professor Steffen is a world leader in climate science and advisor to the Australian Government’s Department of Climate Change. His address will focus on advancements in climate science and knowledge beyond the Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and the challenges ahead for science, climate adaptation and mitigation.
Professor Dovers has published extensively on responding to environmental and climate change challenges, particularly as they relate to the planning of urban and regional communities and their infrastructure. His address will focus on institutional challenges for Australia and the world in preparing to adapt to the levels of climate change that are now inevitable.
