“Don’t make Plans” has already been garnering praise since it was posted;
” Well written… has a Dusty Springfield quality ” John Bissell, Mothlight Music, Ugly Betty
” A very contemporary sound… a lot of potential ” Rob Scott, Sandcastle Music
” A great piano hook… very upbeat ” Kim Green, Music Supervisor Australia
” It’s got a Bacharach thing going on… very catchy! ” Clive Hodson, Shock Publishing.
This is a new direction for James who has performed with her backing band, The Insubordinates since 2008.
In addition, this multi-talented artist has been lending her vocals to the KU-LING BROTHERS, made up of Stephen Malinder, UK (Cabaret Voltaire, Sassy and Loco) Shane Norton, Aus (Soundlab) Jack Lucas, Aus (Yummy Fur) performing locally and nationally. Milly also co-wrote 3 songs on their latest album HERE COME THE ASTRONAUTS, which was released in October 2008.
Re-casting herself as a solo singer/songwriter Milly is revelling in her new musical guise as it affords her with more opportunities to do what she most enjoys; that is write and perform her own songs in new directions.
” I find the whole song writing process engaging and entirely addictive,” she said.
” I just love embracing the challenge of constructing a narrative or some small vignette in song, there’s nothing quite like it. And you never know quite where a song will take you ”
