Curtin University has been granted the prestigious Employer of Choice for Women (EOCFW) citation for the tenth consecutive year.
Curtin is one of only five organisations in WA to be awarded the title this year.
The citation is awarded to non-government organisations with more than 100 employees that have demonstrated they have policies and practices supporting women across the organisation, achieving positive outcomes for both women and the business.
Curtin Vice-Chancellor Professor Jeanette Hacket said receiving the award for the tenth year celebrated and confirmed the inclusive culture of the University.
“To receive this acknowledgement for 10 consecutive years is an extremely satisfying result and is testimony to our work environment,” she said.
Professor Hacket said Curtin had created flexible working conditions and removed barriers that prevented staff from reaching their full potential.
“The current profile of female senior executives is significant and women are well represented on the University’s Council, and across our various boards and committees,” she said.
“Gender equity in salaries, an open and consultative management style, and a transparent equal opportunity and anti-discrimination policy give Curtin the competitive edge in the employment market.
“Other initiatives and programs such as the Advancing Women Strategy and the Equal Employment Opportunity Management Plan – acknowledged as best practice by the Western Australian Office of Equal Employment Opportunity – have also been developed to increase the number of women in senior roles and retain talented women at the University.”
The Federal Government’s EOWA Employer of Choice for Women Citation is awarded to organisations that demonstrate that they have policies and practices that support women across the organisation.
