Curtin University’s national ranking has risen to ninth in Australia, according to the latest CWTS Leiden Ranking 2018, which also placed the University 316th in the world.
The CWTS Leiden Ranking 2018 measures university performance based on scientific impact or scientific collaboration across 938 universities from 55 different countries.
Curtin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry said she was delighted the University’s global and national rankings had improved in the latest results.
“Curtin University’s national ranking has risen to ninth in Australia, up from 10th in 2017, for the CWTS Leiden Ranking 2018,” Professor Terry said.
“The University’s global ranking also improved 39 places since last year to 316th in the world for impact and Curtin now ranks 272nd in the world for collaboration, up 31 places since 2017.”
Professor Terry said the results indicated the University’s progress in strengthening its research impact across Australia and internationally.
“The latest results in the CWTS Leiden Ranking 2018 are a credit to all staff who continue to develop Curtin’s research performance on the global stage,” Professor Terry said.
“I would like to thank everyone who contributed to our improved performance and acknowledge your commitment to quality scientific research that has a real impact on people in their everyday lives.”
The CWTS Leiden Ranking 2018 ranks impact and collaboration according to the size of research publication output of all sciences for the period of 2013 to 2016.
