Curtin has been ranked ninth in Australia and 271st in the world, a rise of 11 places, in the latest global ranking which measures university performance based on scientific impact and collaboration across more than 1000 universities around the world.
Curtin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry said she was delighted with the ranking result confirming the University’s strong research performance and impact.
“The latest CWTS Leiden Ranking again places Curtin among the top 300 universities in the world and reaffirms the University’s national ranking as ninth in Australia,” Professor Terry said.
“This is another outstanding rankings result and demonstrates the University’s research endeavours and scientific collaborations continue to have a powerful real-world impact on both the economy and society.”
Curtin recorded a 7.7 per cent increase in the number of research publications that demonstrated a strong scientific impact and a 10.2 per cent improvement in those highlighting collaboration.
The CWTS Leiden Ranking 2020 ranks impact and collaboration according to the size of research publication output of all sciences and is based on data from Web of Science, compiled by Clarivate Analytics.
