Curtin University has been ranked among the world’s top 250 universities and placed 11th in Australia, according to the 2023 Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THEWUR).
The latest results, released today, show Curtin has moved into the 201-250 band – up from the 251-300 band, and has jumped six places in the national rankings from last year.
Curtin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Harlene Hayne said the result reflected the University’s resilience throughout the pandemic and its continuous focus on meaningful, high-impact research, and quality teaching.
“Whether it’s helping solve global challenges such as securing a sustainable future, enabling people to live healthier lives or connecting research to industry through our Resources Technology and Critical Minerals Trailblazer hub, Curtin is at the forefront of impactful research,” Professor Hayne said.
“This positive result is largely due to our rise in both teaching and research scores, which reflect Curtin’s focus on providing an outstanding experience for students, as well as our long-standing reputation for world-class research.”
The 2023 THEWUR ranked 1,799 universities from 104 countries and regions across the globe, with 37 Australian universities featured.
The annual ranking is based on 13 performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across the five areas of teaching, research, citations, industry income, and international outlook. This year’s ranking analysed more than 121 million citations across more than 15.5 million research publications and included survey responses from 40,000 scholars globally.
