What is happening?
To make accessing Curtin’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) easier and more secure for students, we’re transitioning to Azure Active Directory (AAD) authentication. This update will allow you to connect securely using your existing Microsoft credentials.
When you connect to the VPN using the Cisco AnyConnect Client, you’ll now see a Microsoft authentication window. Just log in with your Microsoft login details as you normally would.
This update simplifies the login process and enhances security with a centralised access system. It also helps us strengthen the overall security of Curtin’s Remote Access services.
What is Azure Active Directory (AAD) authentication for Student VPN?
Azure Active Directory with SAML authentication is a Microsoft feature that allows the Cisco AnyConnect VPN application to verify your identity using your Azure login credentials. In simple terms, it means you’ll log into the VPN with the same Microsoft account you already use for other Curtin services.
What do I need to do?
Starting from 12 December 2024, all students will need to use their Microsoft credentials when prompted to access the VPN.
