Trackem Pty Ltd, an asset tracking solution company founded by Kashif Saleem, an entrepreneur who completed the Curtin Growth Owner program, has been named the WA Innovator of the Year Award Overall Winner for its advanced asset tracking and management system.
Businesses worldwide could be improving their triple bottom line – people, planet and profit – by optimising the value chain of their resources and management of their assets, according to Trackem Pty Ltd, a company specialising in asset tracking and management solutions.
The company’s eponymous flagship product, ‘Track’em’, addresses this issue head-on, which has resulted in the company being named the Mitsubishi Corporation 2015 WA Innovator of the Year Overall Winner.
Track’em uses GPS, barcode and RFID (radio-frequency identification) technologies to allow companies to monitor their assets, equipment and construction materials 24/7 during each stage of their workflow and consequently improve their productivity.
As described on Trackem’s website: “Within seconds the [Track’em] system can tell you where your assets are, so you don’t waste time looking for lost or misplaced items and save on re-ordering and delay costs.”
The WA Innovator of the Year Program, run by the Western Australian Department of Commerce, is open to entrepreneurial individuals and businesses across the state, aiming to promote Western Australian innovators.
For Trackem’s CEO and founder, Kashif Saleem, winning the award, especially against the quality of competing innovative ideas, was “humbling”.
“By winning the Innovator of the Year award, we hope Trackem can gain exposure and recognition in terms of the value maximisation and waste minimising effects it can provide to businesses and the economy as a whole,” he says.
Mr Saleem completed the Curtin Growth Owner program, a business development program for business owners run by Curtin Business School’s Centre for Entrepreneurship, earlier this year.
The program helps entrepreneurs to start or improve their business by offering practical lessons, mentoring sessions and support from leading innovators. Mr Saleem found the program useful as it helped refine his financial skills and strategy and vision for his company.
“The Curtin Growth program provided a practical approach to business management and growth. The hands on business strategy and finance workshops were a highlight as was the one-on-one mentoring,” says Mr Saleem.
Aside from Track’em, the company also offers three other products: Time’em, a project management tool designed to improve time and attendance management of employees; Store’em, a stores and warehouse management tool; and Transport’em, a supply chain and logistics management tool.
The company’s products are already used and trusted by large national and global corporations, including BP, Chevron, Samsung C&T Corporation and Woodside.
