The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), have redesigned Smartraveller to better communicate their travel advice, so you can be informed and prepared about overseas travel and return home safely.
It’s important to note that these changes affect Curtin’s current Travel Procedures and/or some directives found on our websites relating to booking and/or managing travel at Curtin. We will be gradually updating these resources and this may take some time to finalise.
What’s new?
- Simplified subscription: just supply your name and email address and you’ll receive updates straight to your inbox.
- New SMS subscription service: sign up to receive critical alerts via SMS in the event of a crisis overseas.
- Improved travel advice for 177 travel destinations: access travel advisories from any device, at any time, with the ability to download and print.
Contacting Smartraveller for help in a crisis
In the event of a crisis, Smartraveller will activate a crisis page on their website. It will make it easier for you or someone you know to contact them if you need help. It will supplement the consular emergency centre hotline. They will also quickly deploy consular staff on the ground in a major crisis.
