Virtual desktops and use of the Remote Computer Lab solution will be unavailable on Monday 28 September as we undertake work that will enable us to improve your experience in the future. Here’s what you need to know about the outage.
Why is the outage happening?
The Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment requires a series of software patches to ensure it is operating optimally. An upgrade has been scheduled by Digital & Technology Solutions, which will impact virtual labs and the virtual desktop services provided by the VDI environment.
How long will Blackboard will unavailable?
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure environment will be unavailable from Monday 28 September (WA public holiday) between 8am and 12pm (AWST). During this time the Digital & Technology Solutions will be performing an upgrade of the servers that support virtual desktop applications and services.
Will the outage affect me?
Yes – all features of the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure unavailable during the outage.
Users will experience FULL outage to the following services during the maintenance period:
- Student virtual desktop
- Remote access to computer labs
- Virtual labs
This includes access via any of the following methods:
- All web browsers access to https://mydesktop.curtin.edu.au
- VMware Horizon desktop application (Windows, Mac, Linux)
- VMware Horizon mobile Apps (Android, iOS)
What do I need to do if the outage is going to affect me?
You’ll need to save your work and log out of your VDI Desktop prior to the maintenance date.
What happens after the upgrade is complete?
Once the upgrade is complete, services will return to normal.
