I wanted to let you know that there has been a tragic incident on the construction site for our new School of Built Environment and Design (Building 418) this afternoon. Building 418 is located at the northern end of our Bentley campus.
Our latest advice is that a worker was killed and another two workers have been taken to hospital with injuries. Emergency services staff are in attendance and are managing the situation.
Our thoughts are naturally with the families and loved ones of these individuals at this time, as well as all others affected by this tragedy.
I also wanted to let you know that no Curtin students or staff were involved in the incident. It has been widely reported in the media and some of you may have received messages from worried family and friends. Please let your loved ones know that you are unharmed if they are likely to be concerned.
You are asked to avoid the area around the construction site, including University Boulevard. The area is now cordoned off and may be for some time.
