Changes to Perth Campus access

Following the tragic incident on our building construction site this afternoon, I wanted to advise you of some consequential changes to road and parking access on our Perth campus.

The area surrounding the Building 418 construction site has now been cordoned off and there will be limited access to this part of the campus.

Please note the following:

  • University Boulevard will be closed from the traffic lights at the Kent Street end through to Hayman Road.
  • Beazley Avenue will be closed at the northern end. Access to the multistorey carpark will still be possible from Beazley Avenue.
  • While all carparks will still be accessible, the entry points for some at the northern end of the campus will be affected by the road closures. The carparks below will need to be entered as follows:
    • PD1 and PF1 will be accessible from Beazley Avenue and Manning Road.
    • PA1, PA2, PA3, PA4 and PA5 will need to be accessed via the Kent Street end of University Boulevard.
  • The bus port will operating as usual and pedestrians will be able to walk into the main part of campus.

Please observe the signage that will be in place and the directions of the Safer Community Team. These changes will remain in place as long as necessary, but at least for all of Wednesday.

As a sign of respect for the contractor who died today, Curtin flags will be lowered to half-mast tomorrow.

We understand some people wish to leave flowers in honour of the young man who died, but we prefer, for everyone’s safety, to not have people near the site. As we are flying the flags at half-mast, we suggest that if you wish to leave flowers, it would be appropriate to leave them at the base of the flagpoles.

Best regards

Professor John Cordery
Vice-Chancellor
