COVID-19 Update: 28 April

I hope you have managed through the recent lockdown and are coping with online studies this week.  These sudden changes can be disorienting and confusing.

Curtin’s Perth and Peel campuses are now closed by direction of the Government until 1 May and accordingly we must implement strict controls on when and why students come on-site.

An update on restrictions after 1 May will be provided to students later this week when this information becomes available from the State Government.

Accessing Curtin campuses

As you were advised on Monday, teaching has moved online and students should not come to campus without written permission. If you do need to come onto a closed campus this will only be permitted under exceptional circumstances, for example to access equipment or study online if you cannot do so effectively at home, please email essential.worker@curtin.edu.au providing a clear reason for your visit and your student ID number. You will receive an email advising whether your request has been granted.

Higher Degree by Research students

We recognise that Higher Degree by Research students who are not Curtin staff may need to visit campus to maintain essential experiments.  If you require access to campus while it is closed for this reason, please email essential.worker@curtin.edu.au with the following information:

  • Student ID number
  • Name of your supervisor
  • Explanation of why the work is essential
  • The building and room you require access to

You will receive an email advising whether your request has been granted.

Health and wellbeing support

We understand this may be a difficult time for students and encourage you to prioritise your own health and wellbeing. If you feel you would like some additional support, our Counselling, AccessAbility and Wellbeing Services will be available online or by telephone. Appointments can be made by calling during office hours:

If you are experiencing a personal crisis and need to speak with a counsellor now, please contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 or Crisis Care Helpline on 9223 1111.

For any urgent matters which involve an emergency or someone in danger, please call the Safer Community Team on 9266 4444 or please refer to the emergency numbers on the Current Students website.

Thank you for your continued understanding and cooperation as we work through the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
