The school year is wrapping up and it’s time for a well-deserved break after a year of hard study and some decision-making about the future. In few months your next important year of school starts, so here’s how to walk in with your best foot forward!
Reflect on the year
Look back on this year and think about what worked well – and maybe what didn’t – and decide what changes you’ll make to get ahead next year. What study methods worked for you? Do you need to improve your study schedule? And maybe there’s a subject you should spend a bit more time on from your first week back.

Take a break
The holidays are not just a mental break from school but also a time to relax and have fun. Balance is key, so put aside some time to catch up with friends, exercise and unwind. Taking time for yourself is an essential part of recharging for next year.
Get a summer job
This is the perfect time to get valuable skills for future careers. Casual work gives you the freedom to balance your other commitments and earn money before the new school year starts. Check out sites like Indeed and Seek for opportunities that suit you.
Do some work experience
Work experience and volunteering not only look great on the résumé, but they also are an opportunity to see how an industry operates and see they have careers that will suit you. Ask friends or family if they know someone you could shadow. Search online and also drop into local businesses to introduce yourself and see if anything’s available close to home.
