Relaxation of lockdown measures in Perth and Peel
With no new cases of community transmission in the past 24 hours, the Premier has announced an end to the snap lockdown from midnight tonight, subject to some ongoing precautionary measures.
For the remainder of this week universities in these regions are open for online teaching only and students are asked not to come onto campus. We are aware that not all students have access to online facilities and we are exploring solutions to accommodate these needs in a way which is consistent with government requirements. More information will follow.
We are also aware that some Higher Degree by Research students who are not Curtin staff may need to visit campus to maintain experiments. If this applies to you, please email essential.worker@curtin.edu.au and include a clear justification as to why the work is considered essential, along with your student ID and the name of your supervisor.
Students may also come to campus to attend appointments at the Curtin Medical Centre, which remains open during this week.
Anyone who needs to come onto campus must wear a mask and observe all other current COVID-19 health precautions.
Online teaching
Your unit coordinators will be in touch with you if any of your usual teaching sessions can’t proceed online this week, such as some laboratories. If you have any other questions about your online teaching arrangements, please contact Curtin Connect in the first instance.
While the Curtin Library will be closed to visitors, it will still be offering a range of services online to help you with your studies. More information is available here and questions can be directed to the help form.
These arrangements will be reviewed towards the end of this week and we will provide more advice when we have it.
Curtin venues and services
The Curtin Stadium, the John Curtin Gallery and the Mushalla and multi-faith venues on the Perth campus will remain closed, although community sports are able to go ahead, without spectators. The Curtin Access Bus (CABS) to surrounding Bentley suburbs will also not be operating this week.
The Curtin Childcare Centre will remain open as will the Curtin Medical Centre, as previously mentioned.
Student placements and fieldwork
As organisations hosting placements are taking different approaches to the situation, students are encouraged to contact their unit coordinator to clarify the situation regarding their placement.
Any students scheduled to undertake fieldwork in the coming week will be separately contacted about this.
Curtin Volunteers! has postponed all activities for this week.
