Curtin University graduate Senator the Hon. Michaelia Cash has been appointed Minister for Women, Minister for Employment and the Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for the Public Service.
Prime Minister the Hon. Malcolm Turnbull swore Senator Cash into Federal Cabinet on 21 September.
Regarding Senator Cash’s appointment, the Prime Minister said: “She has led the Government’s policy development on women’s issues especially in regards to our response to the scourge of domestic violence.”
Senator Cash graduated from Curtin University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts (Social Sciences), holding a triple major in public relations, politics and journalism.
She was first elected to the Senate for Western Australia in 2008 and previously held the positions of Assistant Minister for Immigration & Border Protection and the Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for Women.
Senator Cash is the first Curtin graduate to be appointed to Federal Cabinet.
