Bans on the recording and transmission of student results at Curtin University of Technology have been lifted, after the University and the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) reached in principle agreement on salaries and conditions for academic staff.
Curtin Vice-Chancellor Professor Jeanette Hacket said most students would now receive their results on or shortly after the expected date of 9 December.
“I am very pleased that students will not be disadvantaged, and that Curtin and the NTEU have reached in principle agreement, after a long period of negotiations,” she said.
Professor Hacket said academics would receive an increase of 18 per cent over four years, an additional $1000 one-off payment, improvements to workload, and better conditions for sessional and research staff, among other advantages.
“I believe we have achieved a good outcome, with fair and reasonable pay and conditions for staff and an agreed workload management system which will enable the University to utilise its workforce more effectively and deliver a better service to our students, clients and community.
“This will keep Curtin in the top third of Australian universities in terms of pay and conditions, and will enable the University to continue to develop its teaching, research and contribution to the community.”
