Curtin University has signed a three-year SaaS agreement to digitally transform its administrative and student management processes for more than 56,000 students and 4,000 staff.
The new enterprise Software as a Service (SaaS) arrangement builds on an almost 30-year partnership, with the University signing on as TechnologyOne’s first education customer in 1990 to co-develop its Student Management solution.
Curtin University Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Professor Jill Downie said the cloud-based platform provided the opportunity to respond quickly to innovative delivery options in a system underpinned by good governance, streamlined processes and the effective use of modern technology.
“Curtin University is a global university with campuses in Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai, Mauritius and Australia, and TechnologyOne’s solution enables our students and staff to complete their administrative tasks from wherever they are in the world,” Professor Downie said.
“The new platform will provide a compelling experience for students and staff at any time and from anywhere, with a particular focus on offering 24/7 access with the appropriate security, speed and reliability as well as streamlining entry pathways into the Curtin curriculum.”
Curtin University Chief Financial Officer Mr David Menarry said the technology offered benefits for staff also.
“The TechnologyOne Financials solution provides a great user experience for staff with capability on any device, anywhere and at any time,” Mr Menarry said.
TechnologyOne’s Chief Operating Officer, Stuart MacDonald, said Curtin University can now transition its multi-faceted financials and student management functionality to the cloud.
“This new SaaS agreement is another key milestone in our longstanding partnership, and reinforces our value as a strategic vendor that adapts and evolves to new technologies, concepts and innovations,” MacDonald said.
The software vendor has signed a spate of new SaaS deals recently, including with New South Wales’ Macquarie University and South Australia’s Flinders University, along with an on time, on budget implementation of its Student Management SaaS solution at Victoria University.
“Our experience and engagement with the higher education market is unmatched in Australia, giving us in-depth knowledge and IP that translates to significant benefits for customers,” MacDonald added.
