Curtin University of Technology has welcomed the arrest of man in relation to a robbery on the Bentley campus on Monday night.  The alleged offender is also suspected of at least two other recent attacks and robberies.

Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor Strategy and Planning Ms Val Raubenheimer said the alleged offender had been enrolled at Curtin International College (CIC) for the last trimester of 2006, but his enrolment had been terminated in early 2007.

“The Department of Immigration and Citizenship was advised of this termination and he has not been a CIC student since that time,” she said.

Ms Raubenheimer also said the individual was known to Curtin Security who had held him on suspicion of robbery on two earlier occasions, and had each time handed him over to Police.

“Although we are very pleased this person has been apprehended, all students and staff are reminded to take care on campus, and to use the Campus Courtesy Bus and security escorts to vehicles after hours,” she said.
