Curtin University has signed a three-year contract with leading infrastructure software company Bentley.
The deal will provide students and staff at Curtin campuses worldwide with unlimited access to Bentley’s commercial-grade software for designing, building and operating infrastructure.
The suite of software consists of more than 50 tools for the creation of three dimensional design and analysis.
Ian Callahan, Vice President, Corporate Services said Curtin had been using Bentley software for more than 10 years in the areas of geographic information sciences, mapping design and surveying.
He said joining Bentley’s Academic Subscription Program, offered through its Be Careers Network, would ensure Curtin students would have access to leading industry-used software ensuring they would graduate with strong skills and be job ready.
“Students using Bentley systems will benefit from an enriched learning experience while gaining a competitive edge,” Mr Callahan said.
Mr Callahan said the same infrastructure software was employed by some of the world’s largest engineering and utility companies including BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto and Western Power.
“A distinctive feature of the partnership will be the provision and development of anywhere, anytime access to Bentley teaching materials for students and staff through Curtin’s online portal OASIS, cementing the University’s position as a leader in the adoption of digital learning technologies,” he said.
The deal was formally recognised on 11 June at Curtin University.
