The next generation of leading entrepreneurs and innovators can now apply for Curtin University’s highly successful Ignition program, which helps participants transform a simple idea into a thriving business.
Applications for the five-and-a-half-day intensive business development program open today, offering anyone with a specific idea for a new or improved product or service the opportunity to fine-tune their concept.
Curtin University Executive Education Manager Ms Danelle Cross said Ignition had helped hundreds of new Western Australian businesses get off the ground.
“Now in its eight year, Ignition is a proven training ground for the entrepreneurs and innovators of the future, giving them the skills they need to launch their brilliant idea into a commercial reality,” Ms Cross said.
“Whether you are considering starting a novel business, looking to propel a new idea, maybe you are a student, graduate or academic considering your own venture, or if you’re already running a business and want to take it to the next level, Ignition will be able to give you the tools you need to take the next step.”
For the first time this year, Ignition has appointed a Lead Academic Facilitator in Dr Subra Ananthram, a Senior Lecturer in international business and the Coordinator of the Master of International Business and Entrepreneurship with the School of Management at Curtin University.
“I am delighted to have Dr Ananthram involved in Ignition this year as participants will be able to draw on his cross-disciplinary expertise in strategic management, global mindset, ethical decision-making and international human resource management,” Ms Cross said.
“In the new role of Lead Academic Facilitator, Dr Ananthram will utilise his research and work with executives from companies such as Microsoft, Google and HSBC to help the Ignition start-ups to build and scale.”
Scholarships are available for various sections of the community in 2018 from the following innovative organisations: City of Wanneroo, City of Canning, Wrays, Business News (this scholarship will be awarded to the winner of the Business News 2018 Rising Star), Town of Victoria Park, Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, Department of Communities, Landgate and The University of Western Australia.
