The Garden of Eden and childhood memories have inspired the work of a local fashion student’s collection which will be featured at Australia’s biggest fashion trade fair in Sydney next month.
Curtin University of Technology student, Lauren Hung, will showcase her spring/summer collection from her label Eve of Adam at Fashion Exposed.
She’s also one of 12 emerging designers selected from across Australia to participate in a special competition, Debut, at the event.
Ms Hung, of East Perth, said her new collection was an amalgamation of all the design ideas she had explored while studying fashion and textiles at Curtin.
“The vintage lifestyle collection fuses flattering, low-back silk dresses with innovative, simplistic shifts and camisoles to pay tribute to the innocence and playfulness of childhood,” she said.
“The collection features white silks and cottons and highlights of peach and marble grey.”
“This particular collection was inspired by my childhood memories and pays homage to running amuck in golden wheat fields on our family friend’s farm.”
Ms Hung said she hoped her involvement in Fashion Exposed and the Debut competition would help kick start her career.
“I know that thousands of people visit the fashion fair so this opportunity will be a great launch-pad towards realising my dream of making my brand recognised nationally.” Ms Hung said.
Fashion Exposed opens at the Sydney Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour on February 14. It showcases the work of more than 600 fashion exhibitors.
