The Perth community has once again rallied to support Curtin FM, generously donating $127,550 during the station’s annual Radiothon appeal.
More than 2000 donations were received during this year’s week-long event, with all funds raised going towards supporting the operational costs of the volunteer-run station.
Curtin FM Station Manager Mr Quinn Glasson said he was overwhelmed by the public’s generosity and the dedication of the entire Curtin FM family, particularly when many are still feeling the financial impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Curtin FM only runs on the commitment and dedication of our volunteers who have a genuine passion to keep our community informed and entertained. I want to thank each of them for ensuring this year’s Radiothon event was a success,” said Mr Glasson.
“Even not-for-profit businesses have ongoing costs and Curtin FM’s sole income is from donations, sponsorships, and a lot of hard work from our volunteers, so we are truly grateful to all our Curtin FM listeners and sponsors for their ongoing loyalty.”
Curtin University Acting Vice President Sarah Moffat said the funds raised through the Radiothon would go back into running the station.
“This year’s outstanding result proves how highly regarded Curtin FM is in the community as it continues to give generously to ensure the station stays on air,” Ms Moffat said.
“Raising $127,550 is a wonderful result and demonstrates the immense value and importance of Curtin FM, which is why we are so proud to host it right here on our Curtin University campus.”
Curtin FM is Western Australia’s largest community radio station with more than 255,000 weekly listeners.
