A Curtin University health promotion lecturer has recently been announced as the 2015 Emerging Health Promotion Leader by The Australian Health Promotion Association.
Ms Gemma Crawford from Curtin’s School of Public Health, was awarded the title for being an individual who inspires through her actions and has guided others in their practice.
The Awards provide an opportunity for health promotion professionals to be recognised by colleagues and peers for their commitment and innovation in health promotion practice.
Professor Bruce Maycock, Head of Curtin’s School of Public Health, said Gemma’s passion, insight and support for her students and the profession has contributed to the development of a strong health promotion workforce.
“Gemma is dedicated to supporting the development of the health promotion profession and has worked hard to build the reputation of health promotion both in Western Australia and nationally,” said Professor Maycock.
“We are very pleased and excited for Gemma and look forward to seeing what comes next for this talented and enthusiastic professional.”
Ms Crawford said: “I am really honoured to receive this recognition for doing work that I love. I have been lucky enough to be supported along the way in the work that I do and so this award is really an acknowledgement of the contributions of a number of people who have acted as mentors.”
Ms Crawford has worked at Curtin University since 2009.
