An international team of new technologies experts will visit Curtin University for a public symposium aimed at exploring the value, need and methods for researching social broadband.

Providing a series of short presentations, speakers will focus on the analysis of previous research findings in social broadband and will look at the proposition of a new key area of inquiry.

Some of the experts are part of an international research team led by Curtin to better understand the benefits and opportunities of fast widespread broadband. This research will help Australia to exploit the National Broadband Network (NBN) as it rolls out across the country.

After the presentations, an audience representing universities, government, business and the community will discuss topics, including; how broadband is understood and experienced by society; digital media, media markets and media policy; the development and use of new communication technologies, including mobile devices; and the regulatory and policy frameworks for broadband development.
