Prominent business leader John Langoulant has joined Curtin University in a strategic appointment that will see him providing advice to Curtin on major initiatives aligned to the University’s 2013-2017 strategic plan.

Mr Langoulant’s reputation and standing will further enhance Curtin University’s engagement with the corporate, government and community sectors.

Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Colin Stirling said Curtin would benefit from Mr Langoulant’s network, business and strategic positioning skills, and knowledge of the public and private sectors.

“I’m delighted to have John on board – he is a respected and experienced member of the Western Australian business community,” Professor Stirling said.

“These are exciting times for Curtin. Our vision is to be a recognised international leader in research and education by 2030 and the projects John will advise on will be a significant part of that.

“John’s expertise in working with industry, government and other stakeholders will be invaluable as these plans progress.”

Mr Langoulant said he was looking forward to making a contribution to Curtin’s strategic direction.

“Many of the future leaders of WA will come from Curtin and I welcome the opportunity to help shape the environment in which those leaders are produced,” Mr Langoulant said.

“Curtin has major plans for the future in educating Western Australians and students from the broader region. I believe my involvement with a variety of government and industry stakeholders both in Australia and internationally can help them come to fruition.”

Mr Langoulant currently chairs a number of boards including GESB, Telethon Institute for Child Health Research, Committee for Perth, West Australian Ballet, Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline, Leadership Western Australia, and the Bankwest Curtin Economic Centre.
