Curtin University has appointed Associate Professor Ravani Duggan as its new Deputy Head of the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine, following an extensive national and international search, and rigorous selection process.
Associate Professor Ravani Duggan has worked at Curtin for the past nine years, most recently in the position of Director of Teaching and Learning in the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine.
Ravani is a Registered Nurse and Midwife in Australia and has also held previous academic leadership positions in the School including the Director of Undergraduate Studies and was the Acting Manager of the Al Ain Branch of the Institutes of Nursing, United Arab Emirates.
She has also held various academic appointments in South Africa and has established strong industry links in the area of translational research in Western Australia.
Associate Professor Duggan holds academic qualifications of Doctor of Philosophy (Women and Child Health); Master of Curationis; Bachelor of Social Science (Nursing) (Honours); and a Bachelor of Science (Nursing) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, in Durban, South Africa.
Professor Phill Della, Head of the School Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine, welcomed Associate Professor Duggan’s appointment.
“She brings with her a wealth of experience that will enhance the School’s Leadership Team”, said Professor Della.
Associate Professor Duggan said she was excited to be taking up the position and working with Professor Della to ensure the seamless operational and strategic running and ongoing growth of the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine.
“I am looking forward to working with the School’s new Leadership Management Team and making a positive and effective contribution to the running of the School,,” said Associate Professor Duggan.
“I am sure that my previous experience in teaching and learning, research and management together with the support of my colleagues within the School will aid me with this new role.”
Associate Professor Duggan commenced in the role of Deputy Head of School in September 2015.
