Curtin FM has once again proved why it is the largest community radio station in Western Australia by reaching a total of 225,000 different listeners each week.
The National Listener Survey for 2016, run through McNair Ingenuity Research Agency this June, highlighted that Curtin FM had increased its weekly listenership to 225,000 and its monthly to 506,000, with the average time spent listening increasing to 16 hours a week.
Station Manager Quinn Glasson said the survey results reflected Curtin FM’s role within the community and the ongoing loyalty of their listeners.
“The survey is a great tool to confirm the success of the radio station and it is fantastic to receive these results while we celebrate our 40th year of broadcasting,” Mr Glasson said.
“Curtin FM couldn’t exist without its loyal and highly committed volunteers and the success of our station is due to their efforts.”
“We look forward to celebrating our 40th anniversary with our listeners and volunteers at the special Curtin FM Gala Dinner in October.”
Curtin University’s Vice-President Corporate Relations Ms Valerie Raubenheimer, said the results are a reflection of the impact Curtin FM has had on the local community and the important role the radio station plays at Curtin University.
“Curtin FM’s success is due to their amazing volunteers and their ability to entertain, educate and inform listeners on a daily basis,” Ms Raubenheimer said.
“It is fantastic to see all the incredible achievements of Curtin FM over 40 years and the University is delighted to be a part of their journey and ongoing success.”
Curtin FM is based at Curtin University’s Bentley Campus and is a not-for-profit enterprise completely self-funded from community support and corporate sponsorship.
