Western Australia’s State Basketball League team, the Perth Redbacks, will be playing their 2015 home season at Curtin Stadium from Saturday 14 March.

The popular team already train at Curtin Stadium three-days-a-week, and will play their 13 home games at the Stadium between March and September 2015, with another four games if they reach the finals.

Curtin Stadium Senior Manager David Russell said the Stadium is the perfect venue to host basketball matches of this level as it has a 2,500 spectator capacity.

“The Redbacks will provide a buzz of activity for not only the large Curtin student body but also staff and the local community,” Mr Russell said.

The Redbacks will also be collaborating with second and third-year Curtin Business School marketing students to develop a marketing plan to increase membership numbers.

The volunteer-run organisation has a successful 50 year history as a feeder club for both the National Basketball League and Women’s National Basketball League, with players such as Luc Longley and Andrew Vlahov rising through the ranks to join the Perth Wildcats.

The club were on-hand during Curtin Stadium’s O-Week activities to give students an opportunity to meet the players and sign up for discounted membership.

Tickets to the games are available to non-members from $5 for students and concession holders and $10 for general admission.
