The world record-breaking How Ridiculous trio will be the main attraction at this year’s Curtin University Open Day, where visitors will have the opportunity to take part in a unique basketball game.
The How Ridiculous team, which includes two Curtin alumni, will be bringing their basketball stunts to Open Day, which is the University’s largest annual event.
Curtin University Vice-President Corporate Relations Ms Valerie Raubenheimer said it was fantastic that the two alumni were coming back to Curtin to reconnect with the University.
“Brett Stanford and Scott Gaunson have done so many exciting things since graduating, and their creative and ambitious approach to their profession reflects Curtin’s commitment to excellence, impact and innovation,” Ms Raubenheimer said.
“Curtin’s Open Day offers an opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about the University to come onto campus and experience all the exciting activities, while also learning about the courses and programs on offer.
“Every year we strive to make Open Day as exciting as possible and this year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever as it coincides with the University’s special ‘50 Years of Innovation’ celebrations.”
In addition to the How Ridiculous attraction, Open Day 2017 will feature a variety of attractions including The Bone Collector game and a CSI culprit catching game from the Faculty of Health Sciences, a virtual reality mine site tour from the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and a student fashion show highlighting innovative and edgy garments designed by Curtin students from the Faculty of Humanities.
Curtin theatre students will also be performing with a giant marionette puppet, designed by Curtin alumnus Leon Hendroff.
Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the Trading Room in the Curtin Business School, which features live financial news and Bloomberg Professional software, and Curtin’s social media centre, The Agency, to experience first-hand how major global brands monitor their digital presence.
Tours will also be running through Curtin FM radio station and the John Curtin Gallery, which will be showcasing the Higher Degree 17 art exhibition.
Curtin Open Day visitors can find out about the latest courses, study opportunities, scholarships, alternative pathways and mature-age entry opportunities for domestic and international students at the newly launched Curtin Connect. The University is also running a dedicated parent information session.
The University’s largest event of the year attracts thousands of visitors and prospective students to the Bentley Campus.
