A panel comprising Western Australia’s top experts in sports nutrition, biomechanics, psychology and performance, ethics, neuroscience and trauma will provide short talks on their respective areas of expertise and respond to questions on the science behind preparing an elite athlete for competition at an event being held at Curtin University.
The event, which will be facilitated by Malcolm Moore, Director of Excitement at Scitech, promises to provide entertainment as well as an opportunity for our aspiring young athletes to question WA experts on what it takes from mind and body to achieve Olympic selection.
The panel includes: Assoc Professor Deb Kerr, Consultant Dietitian to WAIS, Curtin University: Assoc Professor Garry Allison, Physiotherapist, neuroscience and trauma expert and Research Fellow AIS, Curtin University; Dr Tim Doyle, expert in sports biomechanics and injury prevention, UWA; Professor Bob Grove, expert in psychology and sporting performance, UWA; and Ben Dascombe, WAIS Sports Physiologist.
Ms Lara Carroll and Ms Jennifer Reilly, who have competed in past Commonwealth Games and Olympics in swimming, will attend as VIP guests and will be available to answer questions.
